Police confirm killing of Enugu market leader

Enugu State Police Command has confirmed the murder of the Chairman of Ogbete Main Market Traders Association (OMATA), Enugu, Stephen Aniagu, by unknown gunmen on Saturday night, saying police operatives are already on the trail of the assailants.

Aniagu was shot dead at Moses Ogbodo Junction near Topland Market in the Amaechi area of Enugu South Local Government Area (LGA) around 8:20 p.m. on Saturday, September 14, 2024.

In a statement released to newsmen on Sunday, the state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Daniel Ndukwe, said their “operatives are on the trail of the armed assailants.”

“A preliminary investigation reveals that the unknown armed hoodlums, operating in a Toyota Corolla car, double-crossed and shot the victim, making away with his blue-coloured Toyota Corolla car.
