At least two police officers have been confirmed killed while three others sustained injuries following an attack launched by members of the proscribed Islamic Movement of Nigeria (IMN), commonly known as Shi’ites, on some personnel of the Nigeria Police Force at Wuse Junction by traffic light on Sunday.
A statement by the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, which confirmed the attack, described it as unprovoked which was targetted at the police personnel at the checkpoint.
Adeh said the attackers were “armed with machetes, improvised explosive devices described as locally made bombs in bottles with kerosene, and knives.’
