PRP condemns Kano, Kaduna for charging N10m, N2m for local govt elections forms

The Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) has expressly condemned the high fees charged by the State Independent Electoral Commissions (SIEC) in some states to obtain nomination forms for local government elections.

The PRP noted that charging fees such as N10,000,000 for Chairmanship and N5,000,000 for councillorship candidates in Kano, or the N2,000,000.00 levied for chairmanship and N600,000.00 for councillorship candidates in neighbouring Kaduna State was only an indirect way of disenfranchising ordinary Nigerians from contesting elections at the grassroots.

The party encouraged the Kano and Kaduna State Governments to reverse the exorbitant fees and charge reasonable fees or zero fees for nomination forms.
