Premier League champions Manchester City are one of three Premier League clubs monitoring Nigerian and Atalanta forward Ademola Lookman, Soccernet.ng understands.
Lookman has been in the thick of transfer speculations in recent weeks after French giants PSG were linked with a move for his signature.
The Super Eagles winger reportedly asked to be excluded from Atalanta’s first league game of the season against Lecce with negotiations thought to be advancing with PSG.
However, the Ligue 1 champions have cooled their interest in the former Fulham and Everton forward, with manager Luis Enrique preferring to deploy internal solutions to soften the loss of striker Goncalo Ramos to injury.
With PSG out of the picture, Liverpool and Arsenal have emerged as the frontrunners for Lookman’s signature.
It appears, however, that the Anfield and London giants are not the only Premier League clubs considering an audacious move to sign the Atalanta star.
According to TBR Football, Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City are also monitoring Lookman’s situation and could move for the 26-year-old attacker before the summer transfer window slams shut.
Lookman is currently valued at €40 million (approximately ₦70 billion) as per Transfermarkt.
Despite joining Atalanta for just under ten million euros two years ago, the Italians are expected to demand around €60m for a forward who scored a brilliant hat-trick in the final of the UEFA Europa League in May.
