Following the threat of a protest by aviation sector workers, the federal government of Nigeria has reduced the deductions from the aviation agencies Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) to 20 percent from the initially proposed 50 percent.
This reduction was announced by Gbenga Saka, special adviser on digital media to Festus Keyamo, minister of aviation and aerospace development on his X page on Friday.
Ripples Nigeria had reported that flight services may be grounded around Nigeria as the aviation union workers had threatened to embark on a one-day strike to protest against the federal government’s decision to deduct 50 percent of internally generated revenues (IGR) of agencies in the aviation sector.
