The representative of Ideato North South Federal Constituency in Imo State, Hon Ikenga Ugochinyere, has lauded Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt Hon Tajudeen Abbas, for his recent decision to withdraw the controversial Counter Subversion Bill and related draft legislation. The move comes in response to widespread concerns voiced by citizens across Nigeria.
The Speaker, through his media aide, announced on Wednesday that after extensive consultations with various stakeholders and a careful assessment of the current state of the nation, he decided to pull back the bill. This decision reflects a commitment to listening to the people and addressing their concerns.

Reacting to the withdrawal, Ugochinyere, who also chairs the House Committee on Petroleum Resources Downstream, praised Abbas for being a “People’s Speaker” who prioritises unity and citizen engagement. He expressed his admiration for the Speaker’s recognition of the public’s concerns and his swift action to address them.
