JUST IN: House Of Reps Sets Up New Panel to Probe Economic Sabotage in Oil Sector

The speaker of the House of Representatives, Abbas Tajudeen, has constituted a seven-member panel to join forces with the Senate for a comprehensive investigation into the alleged economic sabotage in the petroleum and gas industry.

This development comes on the heels of the recent dissolution of a similar ad-hoc committee earlier set up by the House.

According to a statement by House Spokesperson, Akin Rotimi Jr., on Friday, the newly appointed members include House Leader, Prof. Julius Ihonvbere, who will serve as co-chairman of the committee.

Other members of the committee are Hon. Iduma Ighariwey, Hon. Gboyega N. Isiaka, Hon. Sada Soli, Fatima Talba, Hon. Tunji Raheem, and Hon. Patrick Umoh, PhD.

The statement explained that the urgency and importance of the matter necessitated close collaboration between the Senate and the House of Representatives.

“The new structure aims to ensure synergy, a holistic approach to addressing the issues, and ease of administrative coordination, resulting in a harmonized and efficient investigation,” the statement said.
