Super Dessers rescues result for Rangers in crucial Champions League qualifier against Dynamo Kyiv

Super Eagles striker Cyriel Dessers scored a stoppage-time equalizer for Rangers to help them to a 1-1 draw at Dynamo Kyiv, Soccernet.ng reports.

Rangers traveled to Poland to take on Ukrainian side Dynamo Kyiv in the first leg of their UEFA Champions League qualifiers.

The Ukrainian side had to play outside their country because of the Russo-Ukranian war, and that gave Rangers a slight advantage.

Nigerian striker Cyriel Dessers was named in the starting lineup as the focal point of the Gers’ attack alongside Tom Lawrence. Super Eagles center back Leon Balogun also started for the Gers.

The first half was quite balanced, but Rangers failed to create enough chances. Dynamo Kyiv on the other hand, looked dangerous in the final third, and it took them all of 38 minutes to break the deadlock courtesy of Andriy Yarmolenko.

The Gers improved in the second half and took the game to Dynamo Kyiv. Dessers got really close to scoring in the 53rd minute, but Georgi Bushchan pulled off an impressive save to deny him.

Rangers probed hard at the Dynamo Kyiv backline, but they had to wait until stoppage time before they got their much-needed goal. He displayed his great killer instinct, as he pounced on a cross from Vaclav Cerny on the right and knocked the ball into the net to ensure it ended 1-1.

Both teams will meet at the Ibrox Stadium for the second leg next week.
