“Shipped around like a package” – Osimhen’s agent issues new update to brush Chelsea and boost Liverpool

Victor Osimhen has found himself at the center of a heated transfer debate with his agent Roberto Calenda firmly dismissing reports of a potential loan-to-buy deal with Chelsea or any other club, Soccernet.ng reports.

Calenda’s statement comes in response to speculation earlier today, suggesting that Chelsea have initiated talks with Napoli to secure Osimhen on a temporary basis.

The 25-year-old Super Eagles star has been one of the most talked-about players this summer, following a standout last two seasons at Napoli. His performances have attracted significant interest from top European clubs, including Chelsea, Arsenal, and Paris Saint-Germain.

Despite interest from various clubs last summer, Napoli chose to retain Osimhen, refusing to entertain offers.

However, the situation seems poised to change this year, as the striker appears likely to depart Naples. Recent reports linked Osimhen strongly with a move to PSG, but negotiations have reportedly stalled, with the French champions yet to agree on a fee with Napoli.

Earlier this week, reports suggested that Arsenal and Chelsea were keen to exploit PSG’s hesitancy.

According to transfer expert David Ornstein, Chelsea are exploring the possibility of signing Osimhen on a season-long loan, which would include a mandatory purchase clause.

There has even been talk of involving Romelu Lukaku in the deal, with Napoli showing interest in the Belgian forward.

In response to these rumours, Calenda took to social media to clarify the situation, condemning the narrative that paints his client as a mere commodity to be traded.

He emphasised Osimhen’s accomplishments, particularly highlighting his role as the top scorer during Napoli’s victorious Serie A campaign.

“I’ve read about unfounded imaginary trades involving Victor, shipped around like a package ready for delivery. But remember that this “package” is the top scorer of the third scudetto in Naples’ history. Respect and no more fake news!” Calenda wrote.

While this statement may dampen the hopes of Chelsea supporters eager for a cost-effective acquisition, it could be a positive sign for Liverpool fans.

Reports now suggest that Liverpool manager Arne Slot has identified Osimhen as the club’s primary transfer target this summer.

However, Napoli’s valuation of the striker, reportedly set at €130 million, remains a significant hurdle for any potential suitors, including Liverpool, PSG, Arsenal, Manchester United, and several Saudi Arabian clubs.
