Crusoe Osagie To Police: Arrest Philip Shaibu, He Shot His Own Men, Caused Chaos in Edo State

Special Adviser to the Edo State Governor on Media, Crusoe Osagie, has called for the arrest of Philip Shaibu, alleging that he was responsible for violence following his reinstatement as Edo Deputy Governor.

During an interview with ARISE NEWS on Friday, Osagie, detailed the events that transpired following the reinstatement of Edo Deputy Governor Philip Shaibu on Wednesday.

Osagie recounted, “On Thursday when Philip and Okpebholo arrived at the airport after he got reinstated, the commissioner of police, Edo state met with them at the arrival lounge and showed them the stay of execution filed on the inspector general of police. He showed them the fact that this matter is on appeal and ordered them because as a matter of fact, if the police is giving you an instruction, it is an order. He ordered them that he has to go into the city peacefully and not with all those thugs he was carrying.”

Osagie cited that Despite the police commissioner’s instructions, Shaibu entered the city with violence, “They disregarded the police commissioner, they came into town with guns blazing, and in the process, an innocent police officer was gunned down. Of course, with all those hoodlums bearing AK-47 shooting sporadically, these people have not been trained in weapon handling,” Osagie continued.

Osagie expressed disbelief and concern over Shaibu’s actions, stating, “Philip Shaibu defied the police, shot up the city, killed a policeman, and he is still standing. That’s what makes it difficult for us to understand.”

Calling for immediate action, Osagie said, “We are calling on the police to arrest Philip Shaibu. He is just a civil citizen like everyone else. After winning the case, Philip Shaibu came for war; he shot his own men. We are calling on the police and the DSS to ask Mr. Shaibu to explain why he shot up Benin yesterday(Thursday) with thugs. The commissioner of police is a witness, and he accosted him. The police should arrest Shaibu; he shot his own men.”
