The Labour Party (LP), on Monday, issued a stern warning to the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) cautioning it against involving the party and its leadership in political maneuvers aimed at satisfying their purported sponsors.
The warning came from Marcel Ngogbehei, Director General of the LP Directorate on Mobilisation and Integration, during a statement in Abuja. Ngogbehei responded to remarks attributed to the NLC National Transition Committee, which allegedly mischaracterized Julius Abure as a former LP national chairman and advised stakeholders to boycott upcoming congresses in Anambra, Imo, Delta, and the Federal Capital Territory.
Describing the NLC’s circular as “childish, malicious, and misleading,” Ngogbehei asserted the NLC lacks authority to establish transition committees for political parties in Nigeria. He reaffirmed Peter Obi as their presidential flagbearer and Julius Abure as LP’s national chairman.
