The immediate past Director-General and CEO of the National Inland Water Ways Authority (NIWA), George Moghalu, has formally declared his intention to contest the 2025 governorship election in Anambra state.
Moghalu who made known his intention on Tuesday dismissed reports that he has concluded arrangements to dump his current political party, the All Progressives Congress (APC).
He said, “Yes, I am interested in vying for the governorship of Anambra state. But I must stress that I am not desperate.
“Power belongs to God and He gives to whoever pleases Him at any time. If it pleases Him, using the people of Anambra State to make me their Governor, well, to Him be the glory.
“I am willing and ready to serve,” he added.
He said he would not secretly join another party without making it known. However, he said, “I am still consulting widely, across party lines.”
When asked about the unresolved issues from the last APC governorship primary in the state, which has dragged on till the Supreme Court, Moghalu stated that he is still consulting widely across party lines to choose the right platform for his ambition. He acknowledged that the candidate and platform are crucial factors in every election.
Reacting to the harsh economic situation in the country, Moghalu appealed for patience, stating that plans and programs are being put in place to alleviate the difficulties and address the challenges.
