Transfer: Osimhen to make surprising decision as Chelsea and Arsenal links fade

Super Eagles attacker Victor Osimhen is set to make a surprising decision as his departure from Diego Armando Maradona Stadium appears increasingly unlikely, Soccernet.ng reports.

Last December, the 25-year-old striker signed a new contract with Napoli after an impressive season, keeping him in Naples until 2026. However, he has been linked with moves to Chelsea, Paris Saint-Germain, Arsenal, and other top clubs.

Recent developments have seen Chelsea pull out due to concerns over his injury record, PSG not gaining Osimhen’s interest, and Arsenal unable to meet his release clause. Consequently, the Super Eagles star is likely to stay.

Osimhen’s Future in Limbo

The Napoli striker has repeatedly expressed his desire to leave the Naples, attracting interest from Premier League clubs, Saudi Arabian teams, and PSG.

Despite this, no convincing offers have yet materialized for Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis to consider.

Osimhen, who previously played for Lille, is highly sought after in the transfer market due to his goal-scoring prowess.

However, De Laurentiis has made it clear that he will not entertain offers below the €120-130 million clause in the player’s contract.

While PSG has shown interest, they have not yet made a formal bid. The Premier League and Saudi clubs are also keen on the 24-year-old forward but have yet to meet Napoli’s valuation. This stalemate has left Osimhen’s future in limbo as the summer transfer window approaches its climax.

Napoli Consider Keeping Osimhen

The future of the Super Eagles striker remains uncertain as the club contemplates keeping the prolific forward amid challenges in finding a suitable replacement.

According to Vincenzo Morabito, a market insider who spoke on Radio Sportiva’s program “Microfono Aperto,” it is not guaranteed that Osimhen will leave Napoli this summer.

Morabito highlighted that Napoli’s difficulty in securing a replacement for Osimhen has influenced their decision.

“Romelu Lukaku is not a viable option for Napoli, partly due to age reasons,” Morabito stated. “This is why Napoli are considering a sensational decision: keeping Victor Osimhen.”

The Italian club’s struggle to find an adequate substitute for Osimhen, combined with the striker’s significant market value, has complicated the situation.

Despite interest from Premier League clubs, Saudi Arabian teams, and PSG, no offers have met Napoli’s high valuation of €120-130 million.
