His first port of call was the North-West geo-political zone, where he met former Governor Ahmed Markafi.
Makarfi, a 67-year-old politician, who is a former national chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) was a governor of Kaduna State from 29 May 1999 to 29 May 2007, and was elected Senator for Kaduna North Senatorial District in April 2007 on the platform of the PDP.
According to Olawepo-Hashim, Markafi was “Governor in our class of ’99, and he left a legacy of Ethno-Religious tolerance in Kaduna State.”
