For 10 days beginning May 6 2024, the Nigerian Upstream Regulatory Commission (NUPRC) advertised 12 new marginal oil field and seven old fields at the 2024 Offshore Technology Conference in Houston, Texas, USA. The regulator continued the roadshow in Miami Florida till May 14 May.
Since the announcement, the industry has seen a comeback of oil majors like Halliburton, Eni, and Schlumberger. International Oil Companies (IOCs) like TotalEnergies, Exxon Mobil and Chevron have also indicated interest in the bid round while the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Ltd has also announced interest.
