‘Cybercrime Levy Did Not Emanate From CBN’- Cardoso Says After Withdrawing Circular

The Central Bank of Nigeria has denied involvement in the processes that led to enacting the Cybercrimes (Prohibition, Prevention, ETC) (Amendment) Act 2024 which imposed 0.5 per cent levy on charge on all electronic transactions.

The CBN Governor said that the ‘controversial’ 0.5 per cent charge on all electronic transactions was only being executed by the CBN on behalf of the federal government.
