Leceister City sensation Wilfred Ndidi recently paid a visit to some dignitaries in the Nigerian government, Soccernet.ng reports.
The football star is currently in Lagos, Nigeria for the summer, following the end of the EFL Championship season.
Ndidi paid a courtesy visit to Honorable Femi Gbajabiamila at his office, as well as the Minister of Sports, John Enoh. The football star shared photos from his visit on social media, appreciating the government officials and Nigerians for their support of him and other Nigerian athletes.
“I wish to thank all Nigerians who supported and prayed for me during my injury and long layoff when I missed the Nations cup”, Ndidi wrote. The midfielder was unable to participate in the AFCON tournament, due to an injury he suffered in December while playing for Leceister City.
He also extended his heartfelt gratitude to Honorable Gbajabiamila for encouraging him during difficult times. Ndidi went on to appreciate the Minister of Sports for checking up on injured and sidelined Nigerian athletes, and for his help at a crucial point in the footballer’s life.
Ndidi expressed his pride on being a Nigerian athlete, stating “I am greatly encouraged to participate in sports development and wearing the green and white jersey of this beautiful country”.
Ndidi made his return to the Super Eagles squad in March, during Nigeria’s friendlies against Ghana and Mali, and is anticipated in the upcoming FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
