9 Indigent Children Get Hand2Hand Foundation Scholarship

Nine more indigent children residing in the suburbs of Abuja, Federal Capital Territory (FCT), have been enrolled into the scholarship programme of the Hand2Hand Foundation, a non-governmental organization (NGO) championing a crusade of giving less privileged children in the society a better lease of life through education and sports.

The children, comprising four girls and five boys, were enrolled into the hand2hand scholarship scheme during the annual general meeting (AGM) of the foundation held at the weekend in Abuja.
This brings to 18 the total number of indigent children of primary and secondary school age, enjoying the hand2hand scholarship scheme that scouts for less privileged children to pay their tuition in schools and ensure that they are mentored to excel in their academics, while those gifted in sports are encouraged to pursue their dreams.

The kids who were accompanied by their parents to the 2024 Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the foundation held at Ventures Park in Wuse 2, Abuja, were told of the compelling need to have children develop in their academics, physic and psychomotor (sports).
President and founder of the foundation, Richard Agbonifo, urged parents to help children grow up to the time conscious in their daily lives was key to success, encouraging them to do sports and avoid the scourge of African time.

“Stay in school, sport is just as important as your academics. Choose a sport and Hand2Hand will support you,” Agbonifo told the children.

“Encourage your children to do sports and let us know when you need assistance. Be accountable by ensuring that you give us receipts of payments made for tuition fees and books.”
The Germany based philanthropist appealed to the government to support children in sports by providing facilities and ensuring that training is in their weekly curriculum.

This year’s hand2hand programme of activities will be rounded off on Thursday, April 18, with a Cadet Handball Tournament for Under 12 and 15 boys and girls at the Old Parade Ground, Area 10, Garki, Abuja.
