Ondo Election: Wike’s Ally, Hon Chinda, Heads PDP Congress Committee

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has picked House of Representatives minority leader, Hon Kingsley Chinda, to serve as chairman of the party’s Congress committee in Ondo State ahead of the November 16 governorship election in the state. The PDP had fixed its primary election on April 25.

Chinda, who represents Obio/Akpor Federal Constituency in Rivers State, is a known loyalist of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) minister, Nyesom Wike.

Chinda’s selection to head the committee comes amid brewing tussle for the soul of the party between the Wike-led group and that of former presidential candidate of the PDP, Atiku Abubakar.

The Ambassador Illiya Damagum-led National Working Committee (NWC) has been accused of being teleguided by subterranean forces.

Besides Chinda, other members of the committee are: Hon. Kalu Uduma; Dr. Taiwo Adeniyi; Abdulhamid Yusuf; Ismaila Alkali   (Secretary).

However, a statement by the national publicity secretary of PDP, Hon. Debo  Ologunagba, said “The National Working Committee of our great Party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has approved the nomination of the following Party members to serve on the Local Government Area (LGA) Congress Electoral Committee to conduct the LGA National Delegates congress for the purpose of electing one (1) National Delegate per LGA in Ondo State.

“The Congress is scheduled to hold on Saturday, April 13, 2024 at the INEC Collation Center in each LGA in Ondo State.”

The NWC charged all governorship aspirants, leaders, critical stakeholders and party members in state “to take note and be guided accordingly.”
