Nollywood Actress Adejumoke Dead at 40

Nigerian actress Aderounmu Adejumoke, best known for her role as Esther in the popular Funke Akindele series “Jenifa’s Diary,” has died at the age of 40. The news was confirmed by filmmaker Seun Oloketuyi on his Instagram page on Monday, April 8th, 2024.

Adejumoke’s career began in 2008 with a role in Tunde Kelani’s historical drama film “Arugba,” where she starred alongside Bukky Wright, Bukola Awoyemi, and Segun Adefila. She went on to appear in several other film projects, including “Alakada 2” and “Wings of My Dreams.” Adejumoke was also a multi-talented artist who worked as a presenter and even produced her own show, “The Lounge with Jumoke.”

Details surrounding Adejumoke’s passing are still limited. However, social media reports indicate that a funeral service has already been held for her at the Owu Baptist Church in Abeokuta, Ogun State.

The news of Adejumoke’s death has been met with an outpouring of grief from her colleagues in the Nollywood film industry and her fans. Actress Funke Akindele expressed her sadness on social media, stating, “Sad!!!! @jideawobona I still asked about her. Omg. May her soul rest in peace.”
