The Board of Directors of Eko Electricity Distribution Plc (EKEDC), on Tuesday, announced the appointment of Mrs. Rekhiat Momoh as the new Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the power distribution company (DisCo) with immediate effect.
Mrs. Momoh brings over three decades of extensive experience and exceptional leadership capabilities in the power sector to her new role at EKEDC. A proven team player and change agent, she has served EKEDC in various capacities over the years, most recently as the Chief Commercial Officer (CCO).
Regarded by her colleagues as an ideal choice to lead EKEDC into the future – a thought leader in the power distribution space, Mrs. Momoh has been instrumental in driving operational efficiencies, service improvements, and stakeholder engagement initiatives within the company through her deep industry knowledge and strategic vision.
Reacting to the appointment, a former Lagos State chapter secretary of National Union of Electricity Employees (NUEE), Mr. Uzor Nebollisa, noted that with Mrs Momoh’s enviable track record in the industry, she possesses the pedigree to take EKEDC to greater heights, adding that “her emergence is a super plus to the company.”
Her appointment further comes at a pivotal time as EKEDC seeks to ramp up productivity and enhance power distribution across its coverage areas.
According to the former NUEE Scribe, Mrs Momoh has achieved enviable feats in revenue collection across the districts she has managed over the years, which has significantly contributed to the EKEDC industry record of over N17billion in collections.
Mr Nebolisa attributed Momoh’s success in collections to her ingenuity in strengthening the network to meet the required tariff adjustments. “In all the districts she managed, you cannot fault their billings and their collections and we say that good billing ensures good collections,” he said.
He further described her as a leader known to enforce discipline and ensuring that excellence never goes unrewarded.
Mrs. Momoh’s leadership has also been instrumental in fostering a collaborative and customer-centric culture within EKEDC. Her focus on empowering teams, driving continuous improvement, and forging strong partnerships with stakeholders has positioned the company as a frontrunner in the Nigerian power sector.
