“He has done well” – Former Manchester United midfielder heaps praise on Emmanuel Dennis

Versatile Super Eagles forward, Emmanuel Dennis, has received some accolades from former Manchester United midfielder, Tom Cleverley, Soccernet.ng reports.

Dennis, 26, joined the Hornets from Nottingham Forest during the winter transfer window after spending the first half of the season on loan in Turkey, with Istanbul Basaksehir.

The move didn’t turn out well for the former Club Brugge man, who played just eight games in five months, with no goal involvement.

Since returning to Watford, the Nigerian attacker has found the back of the net three times in five starts and is enjoying his football again with the EFL Championship side.

His latest goal came yesterday evening at Saint Andrew’s Knighthead Park, as they carted three points on the road away to Birmingham, marking a positive start for Interim coach Cleverley after Valerien Ismael was laid off. Ismael won just one game out of the last twelve he coached.

The Super Eagles winger Dennis pounced on a defensive lapse just before half-time to score what eventually proved to be the match-winner, drawing praise from the English Premier League winner with Manchester United.

“We know that Dennis has got that explosive burst. As a defender, you can think you’re comfortable on the ball, and then he appears from nowhere. We said to the players we thought we would create chances through high regains. We didn’t win as many as I’d like but the one that mattered went in. He’s been nursing a small groin issue, so it was always in my mind that he wouldn’t complete the game. He’s done well to get to an hour and score the winning goal,” the former Leicester City man said in quotes revealed on the club’s official website.

Emmanuel Dennis was omitted from the latest Super Eagles squad to represent the country against Ghana and Mali, despite his recent goalscoring form.
