UK Places Ban on Immigration of Health Workers’ Dependents

The United Kingdom has begun enforcing the restriction on migrant carers and health workers who have dependents.

The UK Home Office announced the change in a social media post, citing intentions to reduce migration.

The UK government is eager to curb net migration, which has reached unprecedented heights. As a result, limitations have been put in place, such as prohibiting family members from going with international students to postgraduate non-research degrees.

The new policy, according to the Home Office, will result in the largest-ever decline in net migration to the nation.
According to the British government, this is a means of bringing down the “unprecedented” and “unsustainable” numbers of legal immigration to the country.

To confirm the announcement, the Home Office also published another message on its verified X profile (formerly Twitter) with the following message: “From today, care workers entering the UK on Health and Care Worker visas can no longer bring dependents”.

According to Interior Secretary James Cleverly, his proposal would see 300,000 fewer immigrants enter the UK in the upcoming years.
