Fresh trouble for Binance as lawmakers summon CEO over alleged terrorism financing, tax evasion

Global cryptocurrency exchange platform,Binance, is in fresh trouble as the House of Representatives Committee on Financial Crimes has summoned the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Binance Holding Limited, Richard Teng, over alleged involvement in terrorism financing, money laundering, and tax evasion.

This is coming on the heels of a $10 billion fine slammed by the federal government on the platform over alleged illegal transactions in the country.

Binance has been drawing flak from the Nigerian government in recent days. Earlier on Tuesday, the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Olayemi Cardoso, had dropped a bombshell that illicit flows in the form of crypto exchanges worth $26b passed through Binance.
