Victor Osimhen to get new manager at Napoli, as Walter Mazzarri nears exit door

The Partenopeans have been a shadow of the team that won the Serie A last season, and they are set to hire their third coach of the season

Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen will get a new coach at Napoli as the club is set to sack Walter Mazzarri following their 1-1 draw against Genoa last weekend, Soccernet.ng reports.

Napoli won the Scudetto last season, but the club has been a shadow of itself since Luciano Spalletti left for the Italian national team job. Rudi Garcia first took charge of the club, but after a poor run of results, he was sacked in November.

Then, Mazzarri was appointed as coach afterwards, but the results have not gone his way since he arrived. Napoli has won just ten of their 24 games in the Serie A, and they currently sit 9th on the table, 27 points behind leaders Inter Milan.

The Partenopeans’ last game was against Genoa at the Stadio Diego Maradona on Saturday, but they only took one point from the fixture.

Following that result, there are strong talks that Mazzarri is about to get sacked. Meanwhile, former Napoli assistant Francesco Calzona is touted as a potential replacement, according to Radio Radio.

This season, Osimhen has not reached his previous heights, and it is mainly because of the team’s struggles. Hopefully, the new coach will be able to bring a system that works for the team.
