Super Awoniyi spurs Nottingham Forest to victory over David Moyes’ West Ham

Nottingham Forest were in poor form, but Awoniyi ensured that they returned to winning ways

Super Eagles striker Taiwo Awoniyi scored the opener for Nottingham Forest in their 2-0 victory over West Ham at City Ground, Soccernet.ng reports.

Nottingham Forest returned to Premier League action with a fixture against a David Moyes-led side that failed to win any of their last six games.

Awoniyi had not scored since his goal against Arsenal at the end of January. Nonetheless, he led the line for the Tricky Trees against West Ham.

The first half was quite eventful, as both teams had some good chances, but it was not until the end of the first half that the game witnessed a goal. And it was Awoniyi who stepped up to the plate.

The Nigerian striker got on the end of a pass from Nicolas Dominguez, and despite being marked by a defender, Awoniyi just got a foot to the ball to give his side the lead going into the break.

The second half was more exciting than the first and produced more chances. Awoniyi had a good chance to score in the 64th minute, but his header was poor.

Awoniyi had a decent performance, but he was taken off in the 67th minute. He registered four shots and 20 touches before he was substituted.

The game eventually ended 2-0 in Nottingham Forest’s favour after Callum Hudson-Odoi scored in stoppage time. The win lifts Nottingham Forest to 15th place on the Premier League table. Awoniyi now has six goals in the Premier League this season.
