A total of 85 persons were abducted between Thursday, January 4 and Sunday, January 7, this week, along the Abuja – Kaduna highway just as several raids were carried out in the FCT around the same period, thus marking out the FCT and its neighbourhood as a security flashpoint in the last few weeks. This is happening amid claims of success by the Federal Government in its fight against terror and banditry, especially in the North. Opinion leaders are worried that terrorism is gradually overwhelming the nation’s seat of government, a development that is clearly portentous for the government’s socio-economic plans.
