The Supreme Court has officially upheld the election victory of Babajide Sanwo-Olu as the Governor of Lagos State, affirming the decision made by INEC in March 2023. Despite challenges from LP’s Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour and PDP’s Abdulazeez Adediran, who sought to nullify Sanwo-Olu’s victory, the Lagos State Election Petitions Tribunal and the appellate court had previously dismissed their suits.
On January 12, the Supreme Court affirmed the judgment of the Court of Appeal Lagos, dismissing the appeal of Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour for lacking in merit.
Sanwo-Olu, expressing gratitude on his Instagram page, shared, “I’m grateful for the Supreme Court’s affirmation of my election as Governor of Lagos State. This revalidates the trust and confidence our people have placed in our vision for a greater Lagos. Thank you all for your unwavering support.”
Emphasizing inclusivity and inviting those on the fence to join their progressive governance, Sanwo-Olu highlighted that there are no victors or vanquished. He, along with his deputy, @drobafemihamzat, considers it a privilege to serve the state at this auspicious moment in history. The Governor called for continued collaboration to build a thriving, progressive, and uplifting Lagos, reiterating their steadfast commitment to the journey ahead.
