Aiyedatiwa, Ondo Officials Pay Condolence Visit To Akeredolu’s Family

Gov. Lucky Aiyedatiwa and state officials paid a condolence visit on Thursday to the family of the late Rotimi Akeredolu, former governor of Ondo State, in Ibadan.

Aiyedatiwa described the passing of the former governor as a profound loss, not only to Ondo State and Akeredolu’s family but to the entire nation.

He said that both the government and all the sons and daughters of the state were presently mourning, as everyone in the state had a connection to him in one way or another.

The governor noted that Akeredolu’s voice was indelible in Nigeria’s history and praised him as a courageous man who consistently pursued his convictions, regardless of surrounding circumstances.

“We cannot forget him because the legacies he has left in Ondo State are evident for all to see.

“He made significant contributions in areas such as security, protection of lives and property, the welfare of the people, infrastructural development, education, and healthcare, among others,” he stated.

Aiyedatiwa acknowledged the former governor’s diligent service to God, family, friends, Ondo State, and his profession.

“We are well aware of the former governor’s deep involvement in the Christian faith, particularly in the Church of Nigeria Anglican Communion.

“He was the chancellor of his diocese and a great contributor to the church’s development.

“As believers, we trust in God as the author of life; He calls His saints home at His will. The passing of His saints is precious in His sight.

“Having completed his earthly journey and leaving behind a purposeful life and a substantial impact, we, as his followers, pray to attain the same level of achievement he reached in his lifetime.

“From our observations as his followers, we believe a crown awaits him in heaven, and I am confident we will reunite with him on the day of resurrection in his glorified body.

“On behalf of the government and the good people of Ondo State, we extend our heartfelt condolences to the family. We stand in solidarity with you during the loss of our late leader,” he expressed.

Responding on behalf of the family, Pastor Kola Akeredolu, the younger brother of the deceased, praised the governor for his display of affection toward the family.

He assured that the family deeply appreciated the visit. (NAN)
