Ex-lawmaker, Onuigbo Harps On Impactful Leadership

A former member of the House of Representatives representing Ikwuano/Umuahia federal constituency from 2015 to 2023, Hon. Sam Onuigbo, has restated his commitment to impactful leadership in the country.
Onuigbo spoke to LEADERSHIP Sunday in Umuahia, Abia State capital when he reacted to a congratulatory message sent to him by 14 Nigerian professors for his emergence as one of 30 Global Leaders on Climate Change by New York-based Business Insider.

The former House Committee chairman on Climate Change thanked individuals and institutions that extolled him for the emergence, saying his target was to contribute to build a sustainable and resilient future for all.
The message said the professors of different disciplines had lauded Onuigbo for sponsoring the country’s Climate Change Act, describing him as a worthy achiever, forward-looking visionary and quintessential Climate Change leader.

It added that Prof Munzali Jibril and the 13 others noted with profound joy, the emergence of the former legislator as one of 30 Global Leaders on Climate Change.

They also expressed appreciation that his contributions to global climate action are not limited to the country but extends to other African countries.

“We are not only happy to be associated with your forward-looking efforts and drive, but also note that this recognition is indeed a call to more service.

“Your recent efforts at ensuring that Climate Change considerations and resilience building are incorporated into the development plans of the North East point to extraordinary commitment and persistence in ramping up climate action,” they said.

They recalled that during plenary on November 28, 2023, the members and the speaker of the House, Hon. Tajudeen Abbas, acknowledged Onuigbo as its worthy ambassador in recognition of the emergence.
