MTN Nigeria, Airtel, and other telecom companies have been instructed by the Nigerian Communications Commission to completely block phone numbers that do not have a National Identity Number (NIN) or whose NIN has not been validated.
This was revealed in a corporate notification that MTN Nigeria submitted to the Nigerian Exchange Limited, along with the NCC directive and the timeframes for the barring that were attached.
