The UK’s planned Hinkley Point C nuclear power plant reached a major milestone on Friday, with the installation of a steel dome that will cover its first reactor building, operator EDF said.
The world’s largest land crane, nicknamed “Big Carl”, installed the gigantic circular roof, which is more than 47 metres (154 feet) in circumference, is 14 metres high and weighs 245 tonnes, according to the French energy giant’s British subsidiary.
