Shell Nigeria Gas Limited has trained and empowered 150 youths in Ogun State on enterprise development and skill acquisition in boosting job creation.
The beneficiaries completed a five-day enterprise development training program (EDP) organised by Shell Nigeria Gas for host communities which provided entrepreneurship skills for youth entrepreneurs in the State.
The graduates were empowered with equipment as start-up capital ranging from welding machines, sewing machines, bakery ovens, hair-dressing machines, and catering equipment, among others.
Speaking at this year Shell Enterprise Development Programme, the managing director, Shell Nigeria Gas, Ralph Gbobo said “the Enterprise Development program is to ensure youths in host communities hone their skills, sharpen business acumen, build successful businesses, provide employment and increase income levels in the society.”
Gbobo who was represented by assets manager West Division, Simeon Eze stated that “today’s beneficiaries completed the five-days enterprises development training programme for Shell Nigeria Gas host communities, which provided in-depth training for youths with promising business ideas or skills.”
According to him, the programme ensured youths in our operating environment are able to improve their skills, sharpen their business acumen and start successful business, which will provide employment to the local community and increase income level.
He added that “they would be doing so in the conscious realisation that it is only when businesses thrive that they are able to undertake more social investment initiatives.”
Speaking to the beneficiaries, the Olota of Ota, Oba (Prof) AbdulKabir Obalanlege said the programme will provide job opportunities, reduce poverty in the society, and assist in reducing the level of crime in the society.
