Ramon Badru Salami, Chairman of Union of Trucks, Tippers and Ajeigboro Workers Association of Nigeria (UTTAWAN), a union of four different associations involved with intra-city freighting of goods, building materials and other essential cargoes, speaks to OLORUNDARE ENIMOLA, on the challenges encountered trying to unite the associations to form a common front that could be leveraged for collective bargaining and the need for government’s intervention to stop freighting of wet sands by unscrupulous truck drivers. What is UTTAWAN, when and why was it formed?
