The athlete will get his freedom nearly 11 years after he was found guilty of murdering his girlfriend, Reeva Steenkamp. Oscar Pistorius shot her multiple times in his home on Valentine’s Day in 2013, he claimed that he believed that a burglar had come into his house, hence his decision to shoot the person multiple times.
The 37-year-old was sentenced by a South African court to 13 years and five months in prison. This was Pistorius’ second parole hearing in under a year, his first parole bid was struck out in March 2023 because he had not completed the minimum detention period.
