Leicester Boss gives update on Wilfred Ndidi’s return from injury

Ndidi has been drawing interest from Barcelona, Liverpool, Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur, and Sevilla after finding his form again.

Leicester City boss, Enzo Maresca, has given an expected date for the return of Wilfred Ndidi from injury, Soccernet.ng reports.

The anchorman in the middle for the Super Eagles, Ndidi picked up a muscle injury during the last International break when he was on duty for Nigeria.

The versatile midfielder played in the 2-2 draw against Saudi Arabia in Portugal but didn’t feature in the win against ten-men Mozambique.

Being a regular for Jose Peseiro, Ndidi’s absence means Nigeria will have even fewer options to fit in the midfield, with Brentford’s Frank Onyeka the most likely to step in to orchestrate things in the centre of the park.

Ahead of Leicester City’s game against Michael Carrick’s Middlesbrough, the coach, Enzo Maresca, gave an update on the players that will miss the game through injuries, with Ndidi included.

The Italian boss also gave a hint as to when the players involved should be expected to return to full fitness and be ready to be integrated into the squad.

“Ndidi and Yunus are still out. Hopefully, we can have both after the international break. Dennis is joining us for part of the session already, so hopefully, he can have him after the break,” the 43-year-old told the club’s official website.

Maresca won the Sky Bet Championship Manager of the Month award for October, after picking up a win in all of the six games his team were involved in.
