Presidential Polls: Why Nigerians rejected Peter Obi – Presidency

The Presidency has explained why the majority of eligible voters did not elect Peter Obi, the candidate of the Labour Party in the 2023 presidential election.

A press statement signed by Bayo Onanuga, special adviser to President Bola Tinubu on information and strategy on Monday, noted that Mr Obi was rejected at the polls because “he posed present and future danger to the peace, progress and stability of the country.”

The statement further said that Mr Obi’s antecedents as governor of Anambra for eight years did not inspire any confidence as someone capable of running a country like Nigeria.
