The House of Representatives has summoned controversial singer Naira Marley and MohBad’s manager, Jiggy Adeoye, to appear before it on October 31 to discuss compensation and royalties for the late singer MohBad.
The House is investigating the matter following a motion moved by Babajimi Benson, who called for a review of laws governing the entertainment industry and copyright laws, expressing concerns about the contracts and agreements that entertainers are often compelled to sign.
Benson’s motion called for a comprehensive review of the pertinent laws governing the entertainment industry and copyright regulations.
In a letter dated October 26 and signed by the committee’s clerk, Yusuf Ibrahim, the House said both Naira Marley and Mohbad’s manager were needed to guide the committee on further legislative action.
The late Mohbad, formerly signed under Marian Music with the real name Ilerioluwa Olademeji Alba, passed away on Tuesday, September 12, 2023, under controversial circumstances. His departure from Marlian Music in 2022 was the result of internal disputes and allegations of assaults.
