Osimhen failed to score in four consecutive games, but he finally ended his scoreless run against Udinese
Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen ended his four-game scoreless run with a goal in Napoli’s 4-1 thrashing of Udinese, Soccernet reports.
Osimhen has been in the news since Tuesday when Napoli posted a video on their TikTok account mocking him for missing a penalty in their last game against Bologna.
Even after the post was deleted, fans rose to support the 24-year-old striker, and there were even talks that he could be on his way out of Naples after he removed the club from his Instagram profile.
It was then a surprise to see the former Lille man in the starting eleven for their game against Udinese.
From the beginning of the game, it was clear that Napoli were hungry to get the win, and their pressure eventually paid off in the 17th minute when Khvicha Kvaratskhelia won a penalty. This time, Osimhen did not take the penalty. Instead, Piotr Zielinski took it and scored.
Osimhen had a decent game as usual. He was full of running, albeit the Udinese defenders always kept their eyes on him. He eventually got his goal in the 39th minute after some great interchange of passes from midfield. The Nigerian striker just sent a low shot past Marco Silvestri in Udinese’s goal to make it 2-0 for the champions.

Osimhen was taken off in the 63rd minute for Giovanni Simeone. Then, Giovanni Simeone got Napoli’s third eleven minutes later. Lazar Samardzic scored a consolation for Udinese before Simeone completed the scoring for Napoli in the 82nd minute.
Napoli are yet to release a statement on the TikTok video issue, but clearly, the issue is far from solved.
