The Nigerian music scene has been rocked by controversy as the number of followers on Naira Marley’s social media accounts has dropped precipitously. The drop on his Instagram is seen as a coordinated response from aggrieved citizens in the aftermath of Mohbad’s tragic death.
Naira Marley had lost over 500,000 Instagram followers at the time of publication. Marley had approximately 7.5 million devoted Instagram followers on September 12, 2023; however, the numbers began to decline after more reports surfaced alleging that he contributed to the late singer’s death. They eventually fell to 7.4 million as of September 15, 2023. As of now, he has 6.9 million followers on the platform.
