APC Accuses PDP Of Causing Insecurity In Nasarawa

All Progressives Congress (APC) in Nasarawa State has accused its Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) counterpart of instigating  insecurity in the state.

A statement by the APC publicity secretary in the state, Mr Otaru Douglas, yesterday in Lafia, the ruling party alleged the main opposition party created a militia group called ‘Maccabees’ prior to the general elections to cause mayhem in the state.

APC however said the group could not operate because of the vigilance of security agencies.

The statement came on the heels of a criticism by PDP’s helmsman, Mr Francis Orogu, against  Governor Abdullahi Sule over his recent official visit to the Federal Capital Territory (FCT)’s Minister, Mr. Nyesom Wike.

Our correspondent reports that during the visit the two leaders discussed areas of collaboration especially the decongestion of traffic gridlock on Keffi-Abuja expressway way through the establishment of light rail, infrastructural development and security challenges amongst others.

However, PDP in a statement by Orogu last Friday, alleged that the governor was hiding under the guise of collaborating with Wike even when “his homestead is the headquarters of kidnappers many who have been carrying out their mission ìn the FCT”.

In its response, APC described Orogu’s allegations as unsavory and grievous, and accused PDP and its chairman of attempting to “cause security infractions within the state, acknowledged by many Nigerians to be among the most peaceful in the country.”

APC continued, “On the activities of terrorists in the state as alleged by Orogu, it is obvious that Orogu and his co-travelers are complicit and we are well aware of their plans to stir a breakdown of law and order in the state, as evident in their actions prior to the General Elections wherein they created armed militia group called Maccabees, which has since been silenced by the purposeful and efficient administration of His Excellency, Engr. Abdullahi Sule.

“As a restatement, we wish to warn against the immodest political behavior of the major opposition political party PDP. It should not over stretch our patience. We however, urge the security agencies to deal decisively with anyone or group who undermine the authority of the state.

“Politics is not madness, and any politician seeking to rock the boat should be tamed,” the ruling party warned through its publicity secretary.

Douglas called on the opposition party to desist from playing politics with the lives of the people of the state, adding that no amount of propaganda can safe the PDP from the impending defeat at the governorship election tribunal.

“While we take exception to their desperation and unpatriotic antics in their inordinate quest to gain control of Government machinery, we wish to sound a note of caution to Hon. Orogu and his type to desist from playing such a dangerous game of politics. No amount of public sentiment can whip up or salvage the PDP from the doom that will visit the party as we await the reaffirmation, by the Governorship Elections Petition Tribunal, of the people’s victory given to the APC at the last governorship polls.

“On the mischievous issues raised by Francis Orogu, we wish to remind him and his party that His Excellency, Engr. Abdullahi A. Sule is one competent leader who has excelled in both private and public endeavors. His versatile managerial experiences  is what he has brought to bear in reengineering the social, economic and political defects, as well as infrastructural deficit occasioned by the PDP wasted years in the governance of Nasarawa State. No thanks to the same Orogu, who was a cog in the wheels of progress of the State when he had a stint at the State Assembly.

“It is rather shameful that the same people who now enjoy the massive infrastructural turnaround bequeathed by the APC led administration in the State, could allege non-performance in areas of infrastructure,” it said.
