You Choose Between Life Or Money When you Collect Bribe – Kano Commissioner Dares Tribunal Judges

Kano State Commissioner for Lands, Adamu Aliyu, has warned judges presiding over governorship election petitions accused of accepting bribes that they must decide between the money and their lives.

POLITICS NIGERIA reports that this warning was issued on Thursday during a recent solidarity protest organised by the ruling New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP).

Aliyu issued this warning to the judges presiding over the Governorship Election Petition Tribunal.

He said, “Any judge that allows himself to be used and collect bribes and pass judgment that is not right, we want to tell him he must choose between his life and the bribe money he collected.

The election in question involves the governorship seat, where Abba Yusuf of the NNPP is facing a challenge from Nasiru Gawuna, the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC). The tribunal is yet to announce a date for its judgment.

Commissioner Aliyu’s comments took a darker turn as he hinted at the grave consequences of an unfavourable judgment.

He warned, “You have seen the conflict (banditry) in Zamfara, Kaduna, and Katsina. I swear because of this governorship seat, everyone will die. The conflict that will start in Kano will be more deadly than the ones in those states and Borno.”

Recall that the All Progressive Congress is challenging the Independent National Electoral Commission for declaring Kabir-Yusuf of the NNPP, as winner of the Governorship election held on March 18, 2023.
