It Makes No Sense Changing Nigeria’s Unemployment Methodology To One Hour A Week—Kale, Ex-Statistician-General

A former Statistician-General of Federation/ Chief Executive Officer of the National Bureau of Statistics, Dr. Yemi Kale, has faulted the methodology used in calculating Nigeria’s unemployment rate from 20 hours to one hour per week.

His comment is coming barely a week after the NBS released a new data that put employment at 4.1 per cent. The agency had put unemployment at 33.1% in Q4 2020.
