The Super Eagles have already sealed their place in Ivory Coast, but they still have one game to play in the qualifiers
The Super Eagles of Nigeria will open camp for their 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Sao Tome and Principe on September 4th in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, Soccernet reports.
Nigeria already qualified for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations after they defeated Sierra Leone 3-2 in the last game of the qualifiers at the SKD Stadium in Monrovia. They have 12 points from five games and are closely followed by Guinea-Bissau, who have ten. Sierra Leone have five, while Sao Tome and Principe have just one.
The three-time African champions would be looking to end the qualifiers on a high and ensure they finish on top of Group A. But they would have to defeat Sao Tome and Principe.
The two teams meet at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo on September 10th. Ahead of the game, the Guardian reports that Nigeria will open their camp on the 4th of September.
The Super Eagles put ten past Sao Tome and Principe when both teams met in the first leg last year, and a similar result is expected this time, considering the kind of firepower at coach Jose Peseiro’s disposal.
