In a recent statement released on Thursday, August 10, 2023, the British Council revealed a forthcoming change in the cost structure for the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) examinations in Nigeria.
Effective September 1, 2023, Nigerian candidates seeking to take the academic version of the IELTS exam will now need to allocate N107,500, as announced by the British Council.
This alteration marks a significant rise from the current pricing range of N80,000 to N90,000 for IELTS tests in Nigeria.
The adjustment in fees, as outlined by the British Council, is deemed essential to ensure the sustained delivery of superior standards in the testing experience.
The United Kingdom mandates that individuals from any country aspiring to pursue work or educational prospects within the UK undertake the IELTS assessment. As part of the announcement, the British Council stated that the surge in costs is instrumental in maintaining the robust quality of standards required for the examination process.
The statement issued by the British Council emphasized the new pricing structure: “Dear valued Test Taker, We would like to inform you that effective from 1 September 2023, there will be a price increase for IELTS tests offered by the British Council. The new prices will be NGN 107,500 for IELTS Academic and IELTS General Training, NGN 116,000 for UK Visas and Immigration, and NGN 104,000 for Life Skills. The new prices are necessary to sustain the high quality of standards for your testing experience.”
