Akwa Ibom State Governor Pastor Umo Eno has expressed happiness at the commitment demonstrated by his colleagues in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) at the inaugural Governor’s Forum (GF) meeting he personally convened after the general elections, and appreciated them for the unity of purpose in the process of rebuilding the party.
He exuded joy for the honour done him as a new member, having successfully convened the first meeting of the forum in the current political dispensation, noting that the gesture is an expression of the confidence bestowed on him by his colleagues.
Governor Eno was speaking at the recent meeting of PDP Governors’ Forum held Tuesday, July 11 at the prestigious Akwa Ibom Lodge, Abuja, during his interaction Wednesday with Journalists upon his arrival at the Victor Attah International Airport, Uyo, the state capital.
He ascribed the gesture as a good foundation laid by his predecessor, Mr. Udom Emmanuel, and commended their thoughtfulness for setting the template for such interactions.
He said: “I think we are privileged to be given the opportunity to host the Governors. It has always been a tradition, and we must thank our predecessor for the great work he did to gain the confidence of his colleagues that made it possible for them to continue to use Akwa Ibom House as venue of the meetings.”
The Governor expressed appreciation to his colleagues for sustaining the legacy and particularly thanked them for honouring the invitation for the meeting, which he said had enabled them chart a way forward for the forum, and the party.
“For me, it is a vote of confidence in the things that we are doing, and I see it as a privilege. I would like to thank all our senior colleagues for giving us that privilege to host them. Again, you know I am from the hospitality industry so hosting people comes naturally to me,” he stressed.
