Lagos, Nigeria – President Bola Tinubu addressed the nation on Wednesday, urging Nigerians to remain steadfast in their faith and belief that the country will witness peace, stability, and prosperity. Speaking after observing the Eid-el-Kabir prayers at Dodan Barracks prayer ground, President Tinubu emphasized the importance of unity and cooperation, appealing to citizens to set aside ethnic and religious rivalries.
Expressing gratitude for good health and praying for robust health and prosperity, President Tinubu reminded Nigerians that Allah would not burden the country beyond its capacity. He encouraged citizens to have faith in their nation and work together to build a stronger future, transcending religious and tribal divisions.
In a statement released by his media aide, President Tinubu also extended prayers to Nigerian troops fighting against insurgency, expressing his sincere desire for their victory and the nation’s collective support.
The Eid prayer, led by Chief Imam Sheikh Sulaiman Oluwatoyin Abu-Nolah, commenced at 9 a.m., followed by the ceremonial slaughtering of a ram, symbolizing the obedience of Prophet Ibrahim to Allah’s command.
Deputy Governor Obafemi Hamzat, representing Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, felicitated Muslims nationwide and urged them to rally behind President Tinubu’s vision for a better Nigeria. He emphasized the importance of praying for leaders and their success in their endeavors.
The prayer gathering saw the presence of notable figures, including Chief of Staff Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, National Security Adviser Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, former Governor of Lagos State and former Minister of Works and Housing Mr. Babatunde Fashola, and Speaker of the State House of Assembly Hon. Mudashiru Obasa, among other government officials and political leaders.
