Yul Edochie, a prominent figure in the Nigerian film industry known as Nollywood, has called upon President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to grant freedom to Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).
Kanu has been held in custody since his arrest and subsequent extradition from Kenya to Nigeria two years ago. His detention stems from his active pursuit of the realization of Biafra.
Taking to his Twitter account on Tuesday morning, Edochie earnestly implored Tinubu, whom he recognized as a stalwart in the fight for democracy over a span of three decades, to secure Kanu’s release from the custody of the Department of State Security (DSS).
Addressing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as “The Jagaban,” Edochie’s tweet read: “To our Leader, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, @officialABAT GCFR. The Jagaban.
“A man who has fought for democracy for 3 decades, A builder & supporter of men & women.
“My President, please release Nnamdi Kanu. A humble request from your son, Yul Edochie.”
