Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala has clarified assumptions surrounding her pictorial gesture in a recent photograph with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the Paris Summit.
“Nigerians please relax! Re Paris, Interesting attacks from both sides. Sadly shows the depth of polarization in our society. I post photos in the order received by accompanying staff or colleagues.” Okonjo Iweala said in a tweet.
The Director-General of the World Trade Organization (WTO), Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and other world leaders are in Paris for a summit, examining the recovery of economies from the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, and rising cases of poverty, to provide access to finance and investment that will leverage inclusive growth.
The WTO Director-General was flabbergasted by the narrative of Nigerians, addressing her hugging the president of France, Emmanuel Macron and only shaking the hands of the Nigerian president, Bola Ahmed Tinubu. She believed, “reading more into it is unwarranted.” She called for Nigerians to unite in other to build the country.
