In the music industry of ours, there are musicians that have given us something to cherish about. These musicians who are still relevant have paid their price having spent endless sessions with music producers and working and working on their craft before making stardom.
The musicians deserving our mention are award winning Timaya and Patoranking who have made musical statements via the dance hall, ragga and Afro hip hop genres.
Timaya whose real name is Inetimi Timaya Odon, has been active since 2005 and has gotten the respect of his colleagues in the Nigerian music industry. From the hit tune, ‘Sweet Us’ released in 2022 and gained more prominence with the Rivers State outgoing governor, Nyeson Wike used it to diss his political goes.
Don Dada and Cold Outside in 2021 and of note is the highlife tune, ‘I Can’t Kill Myself in 2019’ that makes music lovers groovy with the song. Also Ukwu and Sanko in 2014 were an item for music lovers. Timaya who had the appellation, Egberi Papa one of Bayelsa in his early days recorded Dem Mama in 2007 and Ogologomma. Sometimes it feels the 43 years old musician doesn’t get tbe credit just like his peers.
